Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle was the most influential celebrity in the world of fashion and her outfits recorded an average 216% increase in searches for items similar to those she wore. After her appearance wearing five different shirtdresses during the royal tour in South Africa, interest in this type of dress grew by 45% in the space of a month. The Club Monaco dress sold out in less than 24 hours following a 570% increase in searches while the J Crew skirt sparked a 102% increase in searches for the brand.

2. Timothée Chalamet
The bib designed by Louis Vuitton and worn by Timothée Chalamet was the revelation look of the Golden Globes. The sequined hoodie, worn at the UK premiere of ‘The King’, sparked a 192% increase in searches for men’s hoodies, while searches for Haider Ackermann increased 806% in the week in which he wore a suit from the same brand.

Representative of Generation Z, Zendaya’s outfits on her Instagram have triggered millions of searches. When she showed up on the Met Gala red carpet in an illuminated Cinderella-style dress by Tommy Hilfiger – complete with pumpkin-shaped bag and glass slippers – her look sparked a 54% increase in searches for the brand. The Vera Wang dress she wore to the Emmy Awards in September led to a 33% increase in searches for the fashion house.

Seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has over 119.1 million followers on Instagram. After wearing numerous neon green outfits over the summer, searches for items in this color increased by 69%. At the same time, searches for BBCICECREAM jumped 211% in less than a week following a brand tag on the singer’s Instagram page.

Cardi B sent searches skyrocketing when she appeared in a vintage Mugler dress at the Grammy Awards: searches for the designer increased by 169% in four hours. One of the most impactful faces of September’s Paris Fashion Week, her Chanel, Thom Browne and Richard Quinn outfits were among the most talked about online that week.

Appearing in a daring gold dress at Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s wedding, she definitely broke the rules of guest etiquette, influencing online searches more than the bride.

As well as the growth in popularity of Lizzo’s music, interest in her designer bodysuits has also increased – searches are up 28% year-on-year. She wore several hit outfits during the MTV VMAs, including a lilac ballgown with an ’80s-style neckline. Starting in September, “Lizzo fashion” became the key word in online searches.
