Prada’s Bold Statements

Prada And Max Mara, Prada’s shows are never simple displays of beauty. When Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the brand’s co-designers, step outside the box to challenge norms, the result is often, frankly, very strange.

Thick woolen tights with belt loops. A cropped top on the chest featuring oversized pockets and snap buttons placed right on the nipples. Shoes cut at the heels as if chunks of butter were sliced away.

Prada And Max Mara, In Prada’s concrete Milan venue, the stage was set in a way that prevented viewers from seeing what was coming. Each outfit was more bizarre than the one before.

The designers said the goal was unpredictability, a rebellion against “the algorithm” or any formulaic approach. Prada remarked, “We are guided by algorithms. We like things because people tell us to like them.” Simons added, “We wanted each person to be their own superhero, with their own story and their own power.”

Prada clarified, “Not power—I don’t like the word power. I like the word capability.”

This bold collection left Prada admitting that she was far more nervous and anxious about this show than usual.

Max Mara’s Subtle Elegance

Prada And Max Mara, On the other hand, “Lessons in Chemistry,” the bestselling novel by Bonnie Garmus about a female chemist standing up against patriarchy, inspired Max Mara designer Ian Griffiths to think of scientific creativity and mathematical elegance. After his show, Griffiths quoted Kurt Vonnegut backstage: “Science is magic that works.”

Rhythmic mathematics is essential to elegant tailoring. A tailor uses precise angles to shape darts that transform a flat piece of fabric into a three-dimensional garment. These tricks are usually subtly hidden, but this collection openly celebrated them.

Prada And Max Mara, Sharp and proud angles were present on the runway. A prominent shoulder on a chocolate-brown coat, a Pythagorean cut on a dress with a triangular one-shoulder neckline, and the symmetry of a cinched waist. Darts became features of the design, displayed on the outside rather than hidden inside the garments.

Max Mara 2025

Max Mara’s Spring 2025 collection was filled with soft white shirts, earth-toned and neutral dresses with precise tailoring, alongside the cozy camel coats that are Max Mara’s signature pieces.

Prada And Max Mara, Griffiths stated that Max Mara’s winning formula is in smart, effortless-looking clothing: “I like to experiment, but I never want it to look experimental on stage. I don’t think a woman is going to spend all that money at Max Mara to look like part of an experiment! She wants to look chic and powerful.”
