Jodie Foster, the acclaimed American actress and director, has achieved a new milestone by winning her first Emmy Award for her role in the fourth season of True Detective: Night Country. This marks a new chapter in the resurgence of her illustrious career.
Emmy Award 2024, According to The Los Angeles Times, Foster took the stage at the Peacock Theater on Sunday during the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards to accept the award for Best Lead Actress for her role in the fourth season of the True Detective series. She portrays Liz Danvers, a sharp-tongued police officer tasked with investigating the disappearance of eight men in the fictional town of Ennis, Alaska.
Emmy Award 2024, Her critically acclaimed performance in this HBO series comes more than three decades after her memorable portrayal of another law enforcement officer, FBI agent Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs. That role earned Foster her second Academy Award for Best Actress in 1991.

Upon receiving the Emmy, she said: “This is an incredibly emotional moment for me, as True Detective: Night Country was a magical experience.”
Emmy Award 2024, She thanked Issa López, the show’s producer, for envisioning the “crazy Liz Danvers” role for her. She also expressed gratitude to the production team and her co-star Kali Reis, adding:
“I am especially grateful to the Indigenous people of Northern Alaska, who shared their stories with us and gave us the opportunity to hear them. It was truly a gift, a blessing, and a love, and when you experience that, something amazing happens. A profound, extraordinary feeling that transcends time and place, with the core message being: love plus effort equals art.”
True Detective: Night Country received 19 Emmy nominations in total, reflecting the success of its fourth season, which, since its release in January, became the most-watched season of the series.
