Britain Queen: Angela Kelly served as the Queen’s “right-hand woman” for more than three decades.

Angela Kelly, the designer and dressmaker who was personal assistant and chief wardrobe officer to the late Queen Elizabeth II for 30 years, will remain at her home in Windsor after her death. In recognition of their friendship and Kelly’s many years of faithful service, the late queen had allowed him to keep her house in the event of her death.

Britain Queen, The tailor first met Her Majesty by chance in 1992 when she was working as a housekeeper for Sir Christopher Mallaby, the then British ambassador to Germany. Months later Kelly received a phone call offering her a job as the Queen’s personal dresser. “I think he liked me and decided I was trustworthy,” Kelly said after receiving the position.

Since then, Kelly had designed, organized and refined thousands of Queen-specific looks over the decades; Something that has gone beyond its assigned role. As well as sewing in extra layers of lining to take away the impact of the beads and crystals on Her Majesty’s dresses, Kelly is said to have fitted the Queen’s new shoes to ensure they were comfortable for the Queen to wear.
