How The Study Was Conducted

The researchers examined sleep duration in pregnant women and later assessed their children for developmental delays at six months up to three years of age.

More than 7,000 children were screened for potential cognitive, motor, speech, social, and emotional delays. Researchers also collected umbilical cord blood samples from some newborns to analyze metabolic markers, including C-peptide levels, which indicate insulin production.
