Daniel Del Core: Daniel Del Core intelligently fused the world of fashion with themes of philosophy and feminism in his Spring 2025 collection, presented during Milan Fashion Week.
While previous collections drew inspiration from the natural world, such as botany and entomology, this time, Del Core chose to start from the concept of scientific inquiry. Throughout the collection, subtle references to the iconic image of a scientist in a lab coat were evident.
Del Core‘s approach goes beyond the natural world, aiming for a more humanistic perspective. This innovative stance even prompted Naomi Campbell to express her excitement on Instagram about attending the unveiling of his new collection.

Daniel Del Core, The first two looks featured sheer white coats that evoked the image of a lab coat. However, as the collection progressed, the scientist shed her scholarly appearance, occasionally replacing it with a copy of Hannah Arendt’s “The Human Condition” paired with an exquisite leather handbag.
Del Core designs for notable figures like Florence Welch, the British rock singer, and Björk Guðmundsdóttir, the Icelandic artist—both known for their transformative fashion choices. It seemed entirely fitting, as Harper’s Bazaar noted, that this collection could represent a kind of metamorphosis.
Daniel Del Core, One of the most striking aspects of this collection was that many models carried identical versions of books by female authors. These works ranged from foundational texts of modern literature, such as Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” and Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” to Rachel Carson’s environmental exposé “Silent Spring,” as well as complex philosophical and critical texts by thinkers like Hannah Arendt, Judith Butler, and Donna Haraway.
Mark Winter, a fashion writer for The Impression, noted that while initially it may seem challenging to connect these philosophical texts to a fashion collection, deeper reflection reveals the designer’s profound thinking. Del Core critiques the history of women‘s clothing, paralleling the discussions of identity creation and the tensions between women’s individuality and imposed social roles found in the works of Shelley and Austen.
Winter added, “It seems that Del Core is asserting that science without ethics and art is of little value.
Daniel Del Core, The aim of knowledge should be to create a more beautiful, thoughtful, and equitable world.” Del Core himself expressed, “Thinking about what my job would be if I were not a fashion designer, I started with the idea of science and research. I wanted details from the laboratory without being literal, and then I extended that to books—examples of what I think an intellectual should read.”
Del Core is a fledgling fashion house founded in 2020 amid the downturn in the fashion industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Milan. The 34-year-old German-born designer honed his craft under Alessandro Michele at Gucci.
