Dr. Jordi Merino, associate professor at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen, stated that these findings could have important health implications and underscore the importance of optimal nutrition in preventing infectious and non-communicable diseases. However, he added that this review only provides a preliminary insight, and attention should be paid to the significant limitations that affect the reliability of the results. Factors such as obesity, diabetes, and access to healthy foods could have influenced the outcomes but were not considered in many studies.
