Black To Black Trailer 2024: Amy Winehouse has been gone for more than a decade now, but her legacy lives on through her music. Soon, she will be immortalized in a new movie, and fans of the crooner can now catch an initial glimpse of what the film will look like via its first trailer.
The first teaser for the Winehouse biopic, titled Back to Black, was released on Thursday (January 11). The clip once again introduces the singer to the world, though this time, she’s portrayed by Marisa Abela.

Black To Black Trailer 2024, In the visual, the actress is nearly unrecognizable, and she does a great job of at least looking like the late Grammy winner. At first glance, she also seems to embody her as well, though it’s tough to judge a performance on only a few snippets.
The Back to Black trailer—the international trailer, that is, which means another version may be released at some point in the future—shows many moments from Winehouse’s life, both before she was a star and after the masses fell in love with her.
Black To Black Trailer 2024, The movie will show her rise from an unknown artist in London to chart-topper. Included in the film are scenes like her running away from the paparazzi, her downward spiral into the drug use that eventually claimed her life, and even her triumphant evening at the Grammys, when she collected several prizes–even though she famously wasn’t in attendance.
While the trailer doesn’t announce a release date, Back to Black is tentatively scheduled to come out in the U.S. on May 10. That’s nearly a month after it will hit theaters in Europe and other parts of the world.
Black To Black Trailer 2024, Back to Black is one of many Winehouse biopics that were developed to some extent, but this is the one that the estate of the late singer went with. It wasn’t until 2018 that her family signed a deal to officially move forward with the project. Filming took place in London in the early months of 2023.
The Winehouse story is directed by British director Sam Taylor-Johnson. She has experience with this type of story, as she helped launch her career in a major way more than a decade ago with Nowhere Boy, a film about John Lennon. She’s also known for her work on movies like Fifty Shades of Grey and A Million Little Pieces.
Black To Black Trailer 2024, Abela may very well have scored her breakout role with Back to Black. While she’s already started her career in TV programs like Industry and films like Barbie, she is yet to become a major motion picture star. Her turn as the singer may help her reach millions of new people and score some critical acclaim. Abela is joined in the Back to Black cast by Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan, and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville.
