LVMH Prize 2024: With Cate Blanchett’s recent wardrobe choices, more fashion enthusiasts are paying attention to this young designer.

Swedish designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson has won the prestigious LVMH Prize, an award aimed at recognizing and supporting emerging fashion design talents.

LVMH Prize 2024, The Hodakova fashion house, founded by Larsson in 2021, is known for its focus on sustainability and playful humor. The brand competed for this prize against seven other young designers and fashion houses, including Paolo Carzana, Fidan Novruzova, and Caroline Vitto.

Cate Blanchett’s recent outfit choices have brought more attention to this young designer. The 55-year-old actress wore a custom-made outfit by this creative designer on the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Borderlands in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 6. The outfit was crafted from 102 silver spoons. Blanchett also chose a spoon-embellished suit from the same designer for the Toronto Film Festival.

LVMH Prize 2024, In addition to a cash prize, winners of the LVMH award benefit from guidance and mentoring by a team of LVMH experts, who will help them progress in the fashion industry.

Other winners of this year’s awards include Dutch designer Duran Lantink, who received the Karl Lagerfeld Special Jury Prize, and Standing Ground, which won the inaugural Savoir-Faire Prize, aimed at promoting artistic craftsmanship.

Larsson is the first Swedish designer to win the LVMH Prize. She grew up on a horse farm in Sweden and was deeply influenced by her mother, a tailor specializing in fur repair. This experience fostered her practical, resourceful approach to clothing, which has become a hallmark of her work. Her designs are deeply committed to ethical principles of utility, and all pieces are created using upcycled materials.

The winners of the LVMH Prize receive €300,000, while the winners of the Karl Lagerfeld/Special Jury Prize receive €150,000. Additionally, they benefit from a dedicated group of LVMH advisors for one year, tailored to their specific needs to guide them on their journey.

LVMH Prize 2024, Arnault, 73, who serves as the Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, is the owner of a conglomerate that produces luxury goods, including fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs. In January 2021, his company acquired Tiffany & Co. for $15.8 billion.
