The Fashion Council of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) honored Simon Porte Jacquemus, founder and designer of the fashion house Jacquemus, with the 2024 Fashion Council Award.

Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York, with members of the board present, including Jean Shafiroff, Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, founder and editor of Vogue Arabia, and Sarah Wetenhall, with financial support from Nordstrom, the luxury goods retailer.
This event heralds the arrival of New York Fashion Week, and the proceeds go to the only museum in New York exclusively dedicated to the art of fashion.
Simon Porte Jacquemus, who was born in the south of France and is now based in Paris, founded his fashion house in 2009 without any formal training, dedicating it to the memory of his late mother. His passion for art and fine arts shapes his creativity and inspires Jacquemus’ collections of ready-to-wear, accessories, and jewelry for both men and women, which pay homage to French culture.

2024 Fashion Council, The Fashion Council described Jacquemus as a designer “famous for his bold approach to romantic concepts, youth, love, and other aspects of human nature, known for his provocative runway shows and theatrical presentations in unexpected locations.”
Jacquemus became the youngest fashion designer ever to receive the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), France’s highest award for cultural achievements.
2024 Fashion Council, After receiving the Fashion Council Award, Jacquemus said, “It’s really special to be recognized, really, really special. Also, thank you to Nordstrom for believing in us… And as you said, when I started my brand at 19 years old, I was very much in love with the idea of looking at fashion differently, in a way that would connect much more with people. That was my first idea and my first temptation, to test this theory, involve people, and make them dream.”
2024 Fashion Council, He went on to say that he is eager to expand his activities in the United States and announced that his store in New York will open on October 18.
