Women Inspired By Kylie Jenner And Bella Hadid Are Removing “Smile Lines” From Their Faces

Kylie Jenner And Bella Hadid: These days, a battle is being waged against a facial feature that was once overlooked: the smile line.

Influencers and celebrities are increasingly turning to plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures to erase the “smile lines” that extend from the sides of the nose to the mouth. These lines, once seen as a natural part of the face and a sign of joy, are now being viewed as the latest beauty enemy.

According to the New York Post, Google searches for “smile line removal” have more than doubled since 2021. Jonathan Sykes, a prominent plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, notes that the smile line is one of the most common complaints he hears during consultations.

Kylie Jenner And Bella Hadid, The pressure from social media and unrealistic beauty standards drove 27-year-old Sabrina Patriarca to spend $800 last year on filler injections to smooth out her smile lines. She said, “I always felt like I had more lines than the average person, and it affected my self-confidence. I felt like these lines made me look older and made the lower part of my face appear heavier.”

Initially satisfied with the results, Sabrina soon noticed that the injected filler began to shift downward in an unattractive way as the swelling subsided.

Doctors say that dissatisfaction with the results of filler injections to erase smile lines is very common. Despite this, smile lines have unfairly become innocent victims in the battle against aging.

Dr. Sykes says, “People think these lines are what age them, but personally, I don’t agree. I think all wrinkles age you, but people focus on smile lines because they appear a bit deeper than other wrinkles on the face.”

Kylie Jenner And Bella Hadid, He suggests treating cheek aging through injections or surgery instead, which he finds to be much more effective, and tries to dissuade patients from getting fillers for smile lines.

Photo editing is a much less risky method for erasing smile lines. Several celebrities, including Bella Hadid, Julia Fox, and Ariana Grande, have been accused of digitally removing their smile lines in Instagram photos to achieve a completely smooth, wrinkle-free appearance, like that of a porcelain doll.

A popular app for amateur photo editing, Facetune, offers an AI-based wrinkle-removal tool that automatically smooths out facial lines, including smile lines.

Kylie Jenner And Bella Hadid, Marina Kaya, a fashion photographer from Los Angeles, says that although she has seen some celebrities photoshop their smile lines in an “unnatural” way, her clients haven’t specifically requested that these lines be retouched, and she only removes them in special cases.

Kaya notes that these lines can sometimes make a face look angry, stating, “I personally remove them only to change the expression of the face.”

TKylie Jenner And Bella Hadid, his new trend reflects an over-obsession with a small facial feature, which is somewhat sad. Lines that deepened with every smile are now disappearing. Patriarca reflects, “It’s an ironic contradiction; something that comes from joy and smiling, which should be seen as positive, is now seen as a cosmetic flaw or problem because it creates wrinkles on the face. It’s really a shame.”
